I read the article, I'm skeptical that Ford is dropping the ICE Escape. They may move production elsewhere instead. (Cuautitlan?)
The article was conjecture based solely on the pending conversion of LAP to make EVs.
My skepticism is based on two things. One, I think an insider here confirmed a month or so ago(?) that there would be another generation of ICE Escape. Two a similar (or the same) source linked in the OP said last week said that Ford was discontinuing the Lightning. Autoline Daily mentioned that story. The Lightning being cancelled story was based on the fact that the next ICE F150 due in 2027 won't have an EV version. Of course, the next F150 Lightning won't be based on the ICE F150...
https://fordauthority.com/2025/01/2025-ford-mustang-mach-e-build-and-price-is-live/
Base starting price is $36,495
Ford is offering $7500 if you lease, which makes the price $32K after destination
A Mach E GT is roughly $50K if you lease also
So I guess EVs are finally becoming more affordable....
I wonder if either one of them will wind up in the "Boss" Mustang that is rumored to be coming.
Plus I'd think that the Megazilla would be closer to the 1100-1200 HP range with that supercharger-didn't they get a tuned up NA 7.3 close to 1000 HP already?
