Yeah but it doesn’t sell all that well,
especially when compared to the F150 2.7 Ecoboost.
Ram having big issues with selling its I-6 turbo right when inventory is stacked up.
The exact mentality I have. If the only way Ford can justify expanding their road going enthusiasts lineup is to make those models mustang variants, then so be it. It's not like the existence of the mach-e or a sedan comes at the expense of the coupe, just the opposite it seems.
There are government entities (mine included) who have stuck with Dodge for the 5.7 and now Tahoe for the 5.3 to avoid the turbo. I am not saying that is right but it is a reality.
As for the new Expedition SSV... you still won't see much market traction as it is a competitor to the Tahoe SSV and not the PPV which the vast majority of law enforcement sales are. It's not even about the pursuit aspect, its simply the handling in an emergency response when you are pushing to shave seconds from your response time. If Ford were to refine the Performance options from the retail models and create a PPV version of the Expedition, then you would have some competition.
If public bitching was an Olympic sport, the people on Ford Authority would be global champions. Nothing makes them happy. They've bitched for years about Ford not offering a sedan, now they're probably bitching about offering a sedan that's too sporty and expensive. If Ford made a new hybrid or EV affordable sedan, they would bitch that it was electric or hybrid, and if it was ICE only, they'd bitch that it didn't move the needle far enough or some shit.
I think we have to be past all the heartburn for Ford using the Mustang name on something other than a two-door coupe right? I mean, the Mach E has been out for how long now, and nobody except the Mustang purists give a crap they used the Mustang name. I could care less as long as the vehicle is good and has the sporty element to it, which would be consistent with the Mustang heritage.
Most comments above are essentially positive and hopeful, which is good. However, many if not most comments on Ford Authority seem brutal by comparison. Sometimes wonder if people too close or invested in subject matter see things in same light. Not judging in that I can relate somewhat to both sides.
A RWD four door sedan sounds interesting to me, especially if a hatchback for better utility. Had one and liked it a lot. On the other hand Mustang purists will not like calling a sedan a Mustang Mach 4 (if that is indeed the name), which will seem as bad an idea as using Mustang Mach E to many Mustang loyalists.
Doesn’t the trademark application wording suggests Mach 4 could be something other than a sedan, so who knows what it will end up being?
