I’m looking forward to see what “simple in nature” and also “lacking in terms of high-tech features” means to Ford. Wasn’t a direct quote so who knows if even accurate?
To be fair, that's how it almost always goes in the auto industry. It's not the wait that annoys me, it's the wait with very little information in-between. If they were breaking up the time with teasers, it wouldn't be so bad.
I get these brands want to be secretive, but I've been saying for some time I'd like it if Ford openly revealed design sketches, and concepts to the public years in advance instead of revealing them right before production.
Give designers time to change styling cues if they aren't well received by the public instead of only revealing something once the design is locked in.
Don’t forget when they actually do go on sale, they will no longer be low cost. Then they won’t update it for years which will eventually lead to its cancellation anyway.
I'm very excited to see what the "None obvious" body styles could be. By obvious, I mean we all know Ford is gonna offer a truck, a utility, and maybe a van. But what are the other 5 form factors? Is it possible we ever see like a fun hatchback, or even some sort of smaller fun coupe based on this platform?
Probably not, but just let me dream damn it 😂.
Yea, it's also ironic that the big shots at Ford are (were?) in favor of more stringent emissions and fuel economy standards. From last year:
Ford Motor Co said on Monday it backs the Biden administration's moves to dramatically cut vehicle emissions through 2032, rejecting Republican arguments the new climate rules are bad for business.
The second largest U.S. automaker said it supports the Environmental Protection Agency's regulations announced in March to cut passenger vehicle fleetwide tailpipe emissions by nearly 50% by 2032 over 2027 levels.
"Complying with emissions regulations requires lengthy advance planning, and Ford has taken steps to transform its business to ensure compliance with stricter emissions standards," the Dearborn-based automaker said. It said it welcomed the regulatory stability that the Multi-Pollutant Rule will provide, preventing the "possibility of flip-flopping or changing standards."
You joke, but there's a very good chance that the new LFP battery plant in Michigan may not happen. I those batteries go away, I expect many changes to their EV product plans. See today's Autoline Daily. Go to the 4:30 mark.
