Refresh of the current Lightning while Ford delays (err “pivots”) T3 yet again:

I think a 2-door would have to start at $23k (before tax credits which are going away anyway) with "normal" features (unlike the Slate that comes with nothing) to make it viable in the market.
The only reason to do a 2 door pickup instead of a 4 door is to keep prices super low. If there are enough potential buyers out there then it could easily sell 200k. The problem is the folks most likely to want a cheap vehicle are least likely to be able to charge at home so lack of ubiquitous public charging will be a hurdle.
Maybe they’ll do a 2 door entry model plus a 4 door and a 4 door SUV.
Ford has some good names in their history that can be reused;
Courier
Econoline
Five Hundred
But, the name is as important as the product and I am hopeful Ford will name it well.
EV sales aren't tanking at GM or Hyundai, just the opposite. GM originally planned to can the Express/Savana in 2026, but that no longer appears to be the case.
According to GM Authority’s sources close to GM, the current Chevy Express could get a redesign for 2027, instead of being replaced, and keep its combustion engine. It won’t be the exact same van, though. This report claims that the redesigned 2027 Express van could ride on a revised version of its current GMT 610 platform, dubbed the GMT 620.
aka, i want a 2 door truck so let's ignore the vast majority of buyers/market to make this only 2 door?
I don't deny there would be a market for a 2 door. I just don't see it being that large to make it worth it. 2 doors just don't sell that well, regardless of form factor.
Unless this platform has wheelbase "modules" that you can just pull them out and put a longer one in like legos or something.
