It is a stretch because the sedan market is shrinking and has lots of competition with rebates, removing pretty much any way of making a profit.
The Maverick has one other product to compete with and in some trims sells for $40k+ which isn't "affordable" and has little to no incentives on it. That is how it is profitable. Ford isn't flooding the market with 23K entry level Mavericks, going by what I see at different dealerships in my area-they are all over 30k+
It’s always interesting to see their discontinued cars popping up on their sale sheet. Makes you wonder where those things were stashed.
I also think they’re gonna regret discontinuing the Charger and Challenger. Those always seemed to be solid products that had demand.
This isn’t terribly surprising. I would like to know more details about this tie up to understand their level of contribution to the PLA.
This is why I don’t like collaborations with Chinese companies. They can’t be trusted.
With their military and industrial espionage, and their forced American/Chinese partnerships in their home market, American companies have wittingly and unwittingly contributed to the rise and advancement of the Chinese military. I for one hope there are concerted efforts to break those ties.
This was such a rich statement from the Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs:
“China consistently and firmly opposes the U.S. overstretching the concept of national security, creating discriminatory lists under various pretexts, and unwarrantedly suppressing Chinese companies, hindering China’s high-quality development,”
You know what I oppose, China’s constant and ongoing theft of intellectual property, and unfair trade practices. It’s no coincidence that China’s Shenyang J-35 fighter bears a strong resemblance to our F-35…
exactly.....heres another paprameter thats always missing from the conversation...how much did Ford lose per "E"....................the business model is NOT sustainable in my opinion, and the Headlines that paint the picture Elecytrics are doing well are like a Porn movie being edited to be PG13....theres a LOT left out of the full picture...
Are many of these vehicles much different than Ford selling Maverick starting at $20k a few years ago? The cheaper ones are smaller than Maverick, and appear built more basic. If Ford turned a profit on early Mavericks, then many of these could be profitable as well. Basic small sedans under $25k doesn’t seem that much of a stretch.
