To me that is just something to say something, it kind of a word salad. What is a all new truck according to Ford? Is it a new nameplate, new platform or what? I think they are just saying something to say something because its not nailed down yet and the alternatives we are talking about could be just taken care of at the existing plants they have already.
Agreed, but if it was easy, I'm sure Ford would have done it since there were apparently pics of it in place at one point. Ford must have information that points to the juice not being worth the squeeze.
I mean, how many gasser with air brakes would they sell? It would likely be an extremely low take rate.
I don't know that Ford is needing something to take up the entire factory at this point, though - they probably just want something to be in the factory just so they get some use out of it. And we know Ford isn't the best with plant utilization.
I don’t see the math here. How can Ford make a unibody Ranger that is as capable as the current Ranger and be $5K cheaper? If you make it less capable, then you just have another Maverick. If it is as capable as the current Ranger, I don’t see the cost savings.
