I find the new Scout very interesting, but given the current turmoil at VAG there is a good chance that this thing may not happen.

Rivian R1T is 4" longer than Tacoma (the biggest midsize truck) and 4" shorter than Nissan Titan crew cab (the smallest fullsize truck). It was a deliberate "split the difference" strategy to compete in both segments.   VW is going straight for fullsize truck... I think that is a conscious choice as well to differentiate itself from Rivian. The original International pickup from 1940 to 1975 was a competitor to the Big 3 fullsize trucks.

On a related note, GM just announced their second quarter results and they wrote down another 11 billion dollars in EV investments.  

Yeah, this was announced back in April lol.   Leaving them unchanged forever will lead to a decline in sales...

The bigger takeaway I got from that was Tesla giving the axe to Model S and X. I thought that would never happen because Elon is a man-child and wouldn’t want to let go of the joke
