IIHS Rates Ford Transit Vans In New Commercial Evaluation Pivot | Ford Authority IIHS evaluated a 2025 Ford Transit in this new round of safety testing, and the van performed quite well - earning strong marks for its standard driver seat belt pre-tensioners, standard driver seat belt force limiter, standard driver front airbag, and standard driver side airbag. However, IIHS noted that the Transit lacks an effective driver seat belt reminder - a problem shared with the Mercedes Sprinter 2500, Rivian Delivery 500, and the Chevrolet Express 2500. To be considered effective, a vehicle's seat belt reminder must include a visual warning light or indicator and a persistent audible tone that is loud enough to be heard easily over the background noise inside the cabin. Both alerts must begin within 30 seconds when the driver’s belt is unfastened and the vehicle is going 6-24 mph, though at faster speeds, they must begin within two seconds. The tone and visual indicator should continue for at least 90 seconds or until the driver’s belt is fastened. In the coming months, IIHS plans to evaluate these same vehicles for additional attributes, including automatic emergency braking and headlights. ---- Didn't realize the commercial models didn't have the seatbelt reminder.

Lincoln Previously Deemed G-Wagon Rival A 'Bad Fit' For Brand's Identify As Ford Authority reported back in February, Lincoln is working on a new body-on-frame vehicle that will utilize the same T6 platform as the Ford Bronco, Ford Ranger, and Ford Everest. It'll reportedly be a two-row SUV with softer lines than the Bronco, designed to compete with the Land Rover Range Rover and Mercedes-Benz G-Class, with a planned launch sometime around 2029-2030. However, it seems as if Lincoln brass previously shot down the idea of creating this very same type of vehicle. According to Automotive News, a group of Lincoln dealers were shown a boxy-looking SUV at a meeting roughly four years ago, though it was covered by a tarp that wasn't removed to fully reveal what was underneath. The luxury brand billed it as a future G-Wagon rival at the time, which would make sense given the tremendous success that particular model has enjoyed for decades to this point. However, it was unclear if Lincoln intended this showing to be a preview of a future product or just a design exercise of sorts. Lincoln brass reportedly never pursued the idea of making that boxy, more off-road-focused SUV a reality, however, as executives didn't feel that it was a good fit for the brand's "quiet flight" identity at the time. Now, it seems as if Lincoln is heading in a very different direction following the appointment of Joaquin Nuño-Whelan as its new CEO a few months ago.

Good News, There’s A New Mitsubishi Eclipse. Bad News, It’s A Rebadged Nissan Leaf | Carscoops Visually, most people will just see a Leaf wearing Mitsubishi emblems, but the Eclipse Sportback does have a few redesigned bits. Up front, the bumper gets a different grille and horizontal intakes with aerodynamic detailing. Despite the official claims, the LED headlights look awfully close to the Nissan units, the difference being that they aren’t connected by a strip of black trim. Should be a BIG hit lol.

Never bring your car to a new car dealership unless it's for a paid recall or part of the warranty. Dealers don't make money SELLING cars, they make it REPAIRING them! Ford founder Henry Ford back around 1912 said if he could be guaranteed all the replacement parts biz, he'd give the cars away for free! I've done all my repairs myself for most of 60 years either in my driveway or using my service station customers' lifts afterhours. I had been selling auto parts to them for 30 years. Unfortunately they've died or it became a convenience store. One of them where I had been bringing my car the last few years because I just don't have the oomph at age 75, just closed, so I bring my car to a friend's barn 50 miles away who has a lift. We work on it together. Since I don't beat my vehicles and they've all been bought used, they've lasted 12 to 20 years and reached 280K to 480K miles. I've only owned 6 cars -- some simultaneously and mostly Fords -- and only one was bought new in 60 years. I'm not bragging but I've only done maybe 10 oil changes in my life. Shame on me? But look how long they've lasted! And I didn't get rid of them because they died. I chose to get rid of them for life changes. As long as the oil is full and the coolant is full and at proper mixture, you're good to go. But keep in mind these are older cars. You know, the ones that were made to last. Not these new cars that many use thin 0W-20 oil and which are junk. I'm currently driving a 2008 Camry because I couldn't find a used Ford. It's 18 years old with 290K miles and I've done two oil changes since I bought it 10 years ago. Except for 2 brake jobs and 2 sets of 4 tires, I've had no major repairs! I've been driving with the engine light on for 2 years! It runs like a top! Oh I forgot, I replaced the starter myself last year. I've never replaced the belts and hoses. And I'm afraid to take preventative action and replace them because the belts and hoses they're making today are junk! I replaced the belt on my 50 year old clothes washer rather than buy a new one because the new ones are junk! My philosophy has been if it ain't broke, don't fix it! Sorry for the rant!

I had a '26 loaner last week. I agree on most of your review except, not enough physical buttons too much screen control. I should not have to touch and screen to adjust the air flow from the dash vents. And changing temp took too much time off the road. The voice control was working to change the temp for about half the week, but then it kept reporting 'can't connect..' I simply desire the buttons on my 2023. To change the temp drop my hand down the to the lone toggle switch and push toward/away from the dash. I can quickly look at the screen to confirm it's the desired temp. Also, I want a knob to change stations. Otherwise, they did a fantastic job.

I’m ready for a collab with Lenco on a Bronco based “BearCub”! Doesnt need to be armored… just needs to be matte black or OD green with the design elements of the Super Duty based BearCat.

Yeah I wouldn't expect the final unveiling till October/November. -
I'm thinking we're only going to start seeing torn up mules soon, rather than something that looks like final form, and that they wouldn't want to reveal too much yet with their drip feed campaign.
