Exactly, I've said it before, but it's not enough to just bring back a sedan. It has to have a unique selling point that makes buyers say "I have to have it". The maverick is a perfect example of this, it's actually one of the more expensive entry level vehicles you'll find across an automakers lineup, but people will gladly pay it.
Not just because it's a small truck, I argue if the maverick was just a small truck, it wouldn't have sold anywhere near as well as it's selling now. It's the fact that it was a small truck with a hybrid system, and a good warranty, and some good design cues. Stacking a bunch of interesting ideas to take a mundane idea, and turn it into something remarkable.
Any sedan Ford does it the future needs to be less of a box of wheels, and more like this, something compelling and desirable. Just ignore the mercury badging.
Hey guys curious if anyone can point me in the right direction. My 2004 Aviator is in dire need of new body mounts. My mechanic is able to locate positions 1 and 3 but 2 4 and 5 are EOL from Ford. He tried reaching out to multiple vendors but is hitting a brick wall.
Explorer and Mountaineer body mounts would work, correct? His only worry is they might be a different shape for some weird reason because they have different part numbers. The possibility is that they are just different materials though since a Lincoln is supposed to ride different from a Ford/Mercury.
As far as I know the frame and body should be exactly the same on all 3, right? The only difference I can tell are the front and rear body panels/fenders. Suspension from what I remember reading is different but that wouldn't affect the frame really.
Any suggestions or ideas?
There should be taste makers at Ford if there aren't already. Car people who know what looks good, and what's desirable, and oversees vehicle production. Those odd, ugly specs should be speciality order only.
as long as you dont mind waiting...I have several retail orders in that still have no VINS after 6 months......have to say I missthe good old days of stating 8 weeks from order date.....
Hi Steve. I understand. Unfortunately, for reasons of passenger security/safety, Lincoln/Ford vehicles do not offer an "Unlock on Park" option in the factory settings. Some manufacturers do, some don't, like Lincoln/Ford.
Turning off Autolock is the only factory way to do what you want.
Good luck.
that's not what I said, though. I said, there'd be leeway for different combos of vehicles still....so another dealer may still have what you wanted. OR, you just order it with the dealer you like the best (i.e. the one accepting Z-plan, and high trade value).
That's a crazy price for that, IMO, even if it does look great.
