7Mary3
A couple of observations regarding Ford Pro and commercial sales: First, a direct comparison with GM in full size trucks is a little tough as Ford includes F-150 through 550 as 'F Series' sales. Chevy Silverado and GMC Sierra sales are inclusive only of 1500 through 3500 models, 4500 through 6500 sales are considered 'Silverado Medium Duty' sales. It indicates Ford pickup sales are likely slightly weaker against GM than the charts indicate. The Ford 'Heavy Truck' category is 650/750 and I believe F53 sales. The GM equivilent would be the Silverado 6500 only as GM does not offer a stripped chassis. The other interesting fact is how well the Transit sells. Ford Pro literally IS the Transit aside from a percentage of F Series sales. That the Transit is primarily a commercial vehicle is all the more noteable, and just for comparison it outsells the F-650/750, also a commercial vehicle, by nearly 10X's! It's no wonder why Ford Pro emphasizes the Transit so much over other Ford commercial trucks (much to the chagrin of other frequent posters around here, myself included!). Also surprising is the Transit currenty outsells every Ford SUV/CUV, though I suspect after the Escape is gone Bronco Sport sales will substantially increase. It was a while ago, but could still be dribbling out.
mackinaw
I just saw my first new Ranger in the wild this afternoon. Dark grey. Personally, I like it. Strong family resemblance to other Ford trucks which is not surprising. The front end is quite different than the outgoing model.

Some potential buyers probably know of and waiting for the 25 as well.

Yeah I saw my first one a few weeks back and its a huge improvement over the last gen model-it fits in far better with the North American look for Trucks vs what it was.
akirby
I don’t think the new Ranger is dated at all. I agree it just looks more like big brother and to me it’s a good thing. The one thing I don’t like is the greenhouse looks about 2 inches too short.

Man that’s a long way in front of Ford’s 170,000 per month average…. So I really wondering what Ford could do in the next six months to improve things… I hear there’s a big price increase coming for updated Aviator, that’s not good…. Not much. GM has far more product to get volume from, vs. Ford's constant product dropping.

Yikes, it wasn't a pretty month for most models, especially on the SUV side: Are they still having issues getting F-150s and Rangers to dealers? It's surprising to see Ranger down vs. last year with the new model finally arriving. China sales numbers not as good as yours but it is a bit difficult to find the numbers. joseodiaga4
Lincoln seems to need a CT5-like vehicle for China if you isolate the CT5 effect, the fight is very close. Just the CT5 account for almost or more than all the Lincoln volume.

It must have been a cost constraint to use the existing greenhouse on the new model because it is larger, but only because the sheet metal is pushed out more to cover the slightly wider track. The slight increase in wheelbase just pushed the wheels a bit further apart, but didn’t change the body length. As was true with the previous Ranger the Maverick still has slightly more interior volume. Of course I honestly don’t think these two vehicles are as cross shopped as some people think. They are definitely aimed at two different customers.

I’ve seen one near me, and I have to say it had much better road presence in person. I will say the new GM twins and the Yota, also look pretty good in person, and are a little more aggressive in their styling. However, I feel they look similar. It is likely better the Ranger stands on its own in the styling department.

I don't think they're cross-shopped a ton, but I do think that Ranger customers likely went toward Maverick while there were production constraints. 8 hours ago, tbone said: I’ve seen one near me, and I have to say it had much better road presence in person. I think the Ranger will age better, as the "look at me" designs tend to age poorly and look older.

Yes, I think similarly to how Kia designs age significantly better than Hyundai’s.
akirby
I think quite a few might go in for a Ranger and leave with a Maverick but not the other way around.

That would have been me. When I was getting ready to retire, and having to get my own vehicle for the first time in 33 years, the delay after delay of the Gen6 Ranger just became a waiting game, so I went with a Maverick instead. Rangers still catch my eye when I'm strolling a dealer lot, but with a $10K up-charge for similar equipment, I doubt I'll be getting one. But its also considerably more then your typical Ford is also, you'd think something that is more attainable would sell better, but it could be also a huge gap between the poor and rich and Ford would be in the middle of that gap and not many customers too.
