While not an Escape/Kuga replacement, the Focus is rumored to return in 2027 as an SUV/CUV.
The Ford Focus Could Return—Yes, As an SUV: Report
If it does, i'm guessing it will be a more car-like crossover model, probably like a Honda ZR-V (aka North American HR-V)...
or a 2nd gen Chevy Trax...
Definitely the right way to do it for automatic switching of essential loads. Reminds me I have a cousin who is an electrical engineer and worked his entire professional career for power company in Florida, where extended outages after hurricanes are common, and he connects portable generator directly to house after throwing the main and all 240V breakers. It’s an all-manual way to get power but for something that may only get used every few years during emergencies it’s not that inconvenient. Especially when considering the hassle of having to fuel the generator. I can connect my generator in a couple of minutes and expect Pro Power Onboard would be even easier in that I would not need to get generator out of storage and start it. The larger Ford 7.2 kW 240VAC X 30A Pro Power Onboard in particular would be great to have even if it had to be connected manually, though I’d happily settle for lower-capacity 2.4 kW PPO. And like you said before, gas can is built in. 😀
They had tons of equipment for the three row that got cancelled on site wrapped up. Some of the paint shop already had some changes made for BEV. They even had a small cell set up in bodybuild lobby for U759 three row. They were also and are still strengthening trusses and structural improvements. Due to size of SD some pillars are being removed and train line back filled in with concrete to increase room.
I read that article and I can see that happening. It seems like Ford is pressing forward with this project regardless of the tariff situation, at the union meeting they said the stamping plant will be state of the art and configurable jigs whatever that means. I guess maybe Canadian and international super duty and maybe some American ones will roll out of there.
This should be the part that concerns other manufacturers the most IMO when it comes to EV transition planning.
Watched the Autoline video and found the Honda N-One E kei car extremely interesting. I did not realize that kei cars in general accounted for such a high percentage of new autos in Japan. Wonder how its estimated $18k price compares to other kei cars? Overall we may be getting close to price parity on smaller vehicles.
Also interesting in the Autoline segment was the Austin quadricycle, though reported $50k price seems absurd compared to real cars. Looks dangerous as hell but also a blast to drive, much like an electric go cart on streets.
Enphase IQ8 inverters supposedly have the ability to power your house without battery backup but it is extremely limited in capability. You can imagine what happens when a big cloud suddenly shades your solar modules. You really need the batteries to provide stable power when off grid. A PHEV with PPOB provides all of that for you. But you still need to install a transfer switch and some sort of sub-panel if you want to avoid extension cords.
