I remember seeing a final year production Focus at my Ford dealer and remember looking at the MSRP sticker and it showed a 6 speed automatic transaxle....I thought, "well, that is too little / too late to save it"
Wet clutch is the more reliable one, but most of what the rest of the world saw was the dry clutch Powershift. When Ford fixed the issue, they stopped offering the cars globally.
Most of the world associated cars like the Fiesta and Focus with its PowerSh*t dual dry clutch transmission. The latest/final gen Focus and Fiesta were not offered globally.
More recent European Fords and the Chinese JMC-Ford Territory (non-hybrid) use a dual (wet) clutch transmission.
Ford sales have gone down significantly in many global markets because Ford did not offer affordable replacements for the Fiesta and EcoSport which are important models outside the USA and Canada.
We are currently around 8-10 inches in Central NY region....nothing too outrageous for wintertime in CNY but it's still coming down and I will be back out in the AM to clear the driveway again....National Weather Service calls this Winter Storm Fern.....we call it Monday....
That wet slushy snow can be really frustrating plus the aholes who never take the 2 seconds to brush it off their roof then drive on the highway... But yeah ice really is a pain. I will never forget when I was in college in RI and taking night classes. We had a rain storm that turned into ice the parking lot was almost like an ice skating rink and my Mercury Sable was in the far corner of the lot. I had to walk out there without killing myself in the dark only to find a layer of ice on the car and not able to open my doors. I had to use my car keys to crack the ice along the door opening to get it open then the thing didn't want to start cause it was so cold. I kept trying and finally got it then set the defrost front and back to full blast. Had to do the key trick again to get the trunk open to get my ice scraper. Fun times! 😑
Consider yourself lucky. I've plowed twice today and it's still coming down and will be until about 6 AM tomorrow. Current temp is 18°F.
We've already passed the 1 foot mark with 12 hours to go.
Punxsutawney Phil better not see his shadow on 2/2 if he knows what's good for him. I'm only about 15 miles from his den. LOL
It’s the very reason that for so long, Ford couldn’t be convinced to build the Lincoln Aviator,
management felt that a high series trim Explorer was all that was required when Lincoln
dealers had been begging for years for products they could immediately sell.
It’s a big problem for Ford and Lincoln, a cohesive plan that works for both brands
but all I see is Ford avoiding the bitter reality by simply edging towards survival…..
What blows a big hole in Ford’s product strategy, using limited plants to force either/or choices?
Answer, the now huge $19 billion black hole charge because it got Electrification plan so wrong.
All of those losses and then some came from funding taken for Ford Blue ICE projects.
