I was thinking the same thing. Ford kept at least one of their new battery plants to build commercial-scale battery storage. They could re-deploy that plant in the future if needed.
Here is my guess. The grille is black, but maybe the body is a different color. At arrow #1 you can see the vehicle has that tape with the paper on it. At arrows #2-3 you can see that same tape that looks like it’s been painted over. Maybe they taped off the grille so they could paint it black.
It will be interesting to see how this truck does if it does in fact have a shorter hood. If you look at all the EV trucks out there, most of them seem to conform to the “normal” truck proportions. The Silverado and gmc EV trucks do have a shorter hood, and I’ve always thought they looked dumb compared to everything else.
As far as grilles go, it’s hard to imagine a truck without one. The grille has always played a big part in the trucks identity. What we see in the pic reminds me of the lords town truck. Hopefully it’s not this bad.
I wonder if the hood is gonna follow a shape like the one illustrated by the red line above. I don't believe it'll be this heavily slanted cyber truck style hood going directly into the windshield, that would be insanely polarizing, and I think Ford knows better.
Not to mention the patent image shows a hood that appears to be pretty linear.
I'm nervous, I warned of a design that would be packaging and aero efficient, but virtually offputting. I fear that may be what Fords going for. A case of something being a great tool, but getting rejected because it's not conventionally attractive.
And I get that…
So what I’m thinking is whether Ford considers CE1 pickup (and Utility)
midsized because it’s wider like Edge hence more hip and shoulder room
or is it midsized like Ranger but being similar inside as Maverick or even Escape or RAV4.
Honestly, modern marketing leaves name cold…
Yea, there should be a pure EV version of the F-150 Lightning also.
When Ford's big shots announced next gen F-150 Lightning back in December, they said Unlike a traditional hybrid, the F-150 Lightning EREV is propelled 100 percent by electric motors. This ensures owners get the pure EV driving experience they love — including rapid acceleration and quiet operation — while eliminating the need to stop and charge during long-distance towing.
Sure, but a lot of F-150 Lightning customers including myself don't need and don't want a gasoline or diesel powered range extender (and the cost and complexity that goes with it) to be part of the pure EV driving experience they love.
I was thinking more in terms of rear seating spaciousness where the RAV4 is good. All the mid-sized pickups that I am familiar with (including my 2020 Ranger) are tight and uncomfortable in the rear seat.
Not following what you are saying here? Are you suggesting there should be a pure EV version of the f-150 Lightning also?
F-150 has a rich and diverse power-train lineup now with the multiple ICE power-trains, the F-150 Powerboost and the future EREV Lightning.
