To put this in perspective, it is a very small percentage of the vehicle fleet that is involved in serious accidents (if you believe Gemini). Given that, I’d choose a less expensive vehicle and accept the 3% risk of it having a more expensive repair (or being totaled). From Gemini: “In 2022, approximately 3.08%of all registered vehicles in the United States were involved in police-reported accidents. When specifically looking at serious accidents—defined as those resulting in injury or death—about 0.67% of registered vehicles were involved.”

But cost savings in manufacturing get passed to consumers. That's how Ford is meeting the $30k target price. So even if it costs more to repair the buyer may still be ahead.

Weather it is a BMW "driver" (aka bimmer) or a BMW "rider" (aka beemer) both have a self absorbed sense of entitlement that just oozes " <censored> on the inside." - Present company excluded of course. -

it doesn’t really matter-the cost to fix a complex assembly vs a simplified one will always be more. You have to look at it as a holistic cost-insurance pretty much automatically total outs a car where multiple airbags have gone off because the labor costs to replace them doesn’t make sense for the insurance company, even though the car is fixable. It boils down to profitability of the insurance company vs it actually being worth doing. -

Sorry, Ford does not make them....you may want to try Raytheon Circle News forum.... PS: You may be able to fit a BGM-71 in a Transit Connect, but firing it from inside might present a problem. May be better if you roof mount it although you might get a visit from the FBI over it...jus' sayin'.... -
We're not going down this rabbit hole.

I have not seen a diesel transit bus in years. All the transits around here are CNG or BEV's.

To me, Rivian looks like a premium brand, maybe not true luxury but it could reach many buyers.. I think it ironic that Ford sold its investment in Rivian because its own engineering called the electronics incompatible with Ford’s own systems….. Especially since CE1 would seem to be embracing many of those CPU styled electrical systems..
