The way the dealer's estimator made it sound it could be months before they can get a door from Ford. I'm taking it for another estimate tomorrow to the same shop that painted my '70 Mach 1. I have also located several different recyclers that have the door I need in the same color as my truck. I also talked to my insurance agent and he assured me that the insurance company will go along with whatever I decide. They don't want me driving around in a dented truck any longer than I do. Even if the shop has to repaint a door that started out the same color as mine I don't really care because it is covered by insurance. My deductible doesn't change regardless. The only thing that would be a potential show stopper would be if Ford has already billed the dealer for a new door which I doubt they would do unless it has already been shipped.
Not everyone who reads these posts is as knowledgeable about bodywork and metallurgy as you obviously must be. I couldn't resist either. 😉
The name does make perfect sense for an EV, if it hadn’t already been used on one of ford’s most iconic trucks. Lightning is a cool name and should be reserved for a cool truck.
Makes perfect sense to call it a Lighting. It has a full electric drivetrain.
Does not make sense to waste resources on a low volume Lighting sport truck!
Please don’t call the EREV a Lightning. It should just be considered a different powertrain option on the F-150, same as a v8 or hybrid. Ford needs to bring back a true lightning sport truck replacement.
off-road trucks
tremor -> raptor
sport trucks
lobo -> lightning
As a ford fan, I’m really getting tired of the cancellations. I know that they are necessary, but we’ve been waiting years to see some of these vehicles. T3 and the 3 row EV were some I was most looking forward to. Now we will never get to see them 😂
Coming with the news today, a confirmation that Ford is doubling down of their affordable smaller EVs, with additional details that they plan to have 5 affordable EVs on sale by the end of the decade, 4 being produced in the US.
Logically those 4 will all be built in the same plant. It's a mystery as to what those 4 models will be beyond the midsized truck but I'm guessing it'll be:
- That 30k midsized truck
- A smallish utility that tries to take the place of the escape. Could be a boxier utility, or a next gen mach-e based on CE1 that's a little smaller a more affordable.
- A cargo van
- That RWD performance sedan Farley has mentioned a few times.
Overseas from the Renault merger, we know we'll get two models. But if only one of the overseas models is described as affordable, It sounds like one will be value oriented based on what we're hearing, and one won't. So a new fiesta/focus thing, and then maybe something sportier and/or more premium.
