  1. I talked to our VP/GM earlier this morning and he informed me that the dealership has signed up for accepting vehicles from Ford that the dealership will complete by installing the microchips that Ford will send. He agreed with me about anticipating a logistics nightmare and having either the wrong chips, missing chips and/or misidentified chips to deal with, etc. Right now, they have no idea when they'll start receiving vehicles.

  2. So I checked the Ford tracking site again today and actually had an estimated delivery date pop up. Went into “in production” status on 7/6 and still no window sticker or any other updates but the estimated delivery is a pleasant surprise. Still not holding my breath but things seem to be moving.

  3. Have you been here since Steel Vengeance opened?!? Currently in line to ride it for the 5th time today. Absolutely indescribable. No kids or spouses today, just me and a friend, so we bit the bullet and did FastLane Plus and I can't imagine this day without it. BUSY.

  4. I got to test drive a Mustang Mach E today. It was an Premium Extended Range RWD model in Carbonized Gray. I liked it! It drove smoothly. I was with my parents and brother helping my mom drop off her Explorer ST (which is again having issues, but that's a different topic), and they happened to have one out front as a loaner vehicle (the Bronco Sport behind it is also a loaner). Everything was pretty intuitive, though I didn't get to play around with all of the features on the center screen. Note prior to an acceleration comment, I don't have a "normal" stable of vehicles which I can compare to, as I'm used to a Mustang GT or family's Explorer ST or Raptor - with that said, acceleration left a bit to be desired in this trim, and I looked up the numbers, and this trim has a 0-60 estimate of 6.1 seconds. With AWD, that figure falls to 4.8 seconds, which is closer to the coupe/convertible GT's speed. It'll be great for most people, but AWD and obviously the GT models (regular and performance model) will be better for those wanting more performance. This is my second time seeing it in person, but first outside of an auto show, and it looks really good in person. I liked the lighting effects with the sequential sweeps up front and back. The exterior handles also worked well and weren't awkward to use for me. I do think that they could use a better setup for the frunk than the double pull "hood" interior handle - that may be a requirement, but when it doesn't latch properly, you have to go back to the driver's door to unlatch it again to close it properly. (ignore the single light bar illuminated in this rear photo, it's just an LED camera flicker) I also liked the interior. As mentioned before, everything was intuitive and laid out well. Materials were nice. I did notice the upper dash (beyond the fabric inserts) was a harder plastic, but other lower points were nice soft/padded materials. I did find the knob on the screen to feel a bit cheap and made a creaking sound on this particular model.....I'd assume that doesn't happen on all models. Seating inside was comfortable. This one had only 8 way power seats, I'm not sure if 10 way are available (too lazy to look lol). Rear seat legroom was great I'm 6'0" and had several inches from my knees to the seat back with where I/my brother (same height) sit. I loved the glass roof too - made the cabin airy, but wasn't uncomfortable - they put a good tint or something on it to where despite not having a shade, it was just fine and not hot. Didn't find myself wishing there were a shade - don't know if this opinion would change over time, but at first glance it didn't bother me. You can see in the photo this one said 193 miles at 75%, and that included quite a few "flooring" runs. Ultimately, I think Ford has a potential hit on their hands with this if/when they get enough to buy in and more production capacity. For me, I'm not sure about going all electric yet, even though reality is it would work just fine for daily use where you're returning home nightly and can recharge there. Longer range anxiety for trips and charging time are definitely a consideration, even if those are outlier cases for the occasional trip - that's more of a mindset thing that will change over time as both range and charging locations increases, and charging times decrease.

  5. nope, I know a few people(in real life, not forums) that have 250 Lariats with the Black appearance package on order. Only one doesn't have a build date and VIN, and he's the only one with adaptive stearing.

  6. Ummm, GearheadGrrl is a guy... Both a moot points when Maverick hits the market that is both inexpensive and fuel efficient. Maverick is basically an Escape with the rear section of roof removed and Escape is basically a tall Focus...so, Maverick is a tall Focus with an exposed trunk...

  9. The hard top issues have solidified my decision to switch to a soft top. Especially being the #1 allocation at my dealership but still without a build date. If I don't get scheduled on the 29th for September, I'll probably 99 the order.

  10. There is a reason for the vaccination hesitancy. That reason is being realized by some as, there is only so much you can do when it comes to telling adults what to do. There’s no mandatory law or protocol in any state or the Pelosi Gang hasn`t put anything in place, either. That gang can’t make that happen because....there’s a midterm election in a year. Jobama handlers and the Demolistioncrats cannot afford to piss off voters before judgement day. But, you know the handlers want to…badly. (in the worst way) Stop and think, for years people were made aware of and the science actually put together fact based data (without a wishy washy good doctor type front man) and put it out there about all the dangers of smoking but, a large percentage of American`s still did what? The fact based data has been there for decades and decades, go ahead throw any street name out there you want, of any narcotic that will kill you. All against the law to even possess much less consume. But, what does an every growing percentage of Americans do? “With vaccines having been universally available for months, more public officials really need to just acknowledge that there's a limit to how much you can control the behavior of fellow humans. Millions of people still smoke cigarettes despite decades of official warnings,” A Liberal Reporter wrote. A decision is our right to make if those decisions don`t effect others. But, we have one side of the isle that has used the excuse mill (to their political benefit in some cases) to make no one responsible for sheepies decisions. It`s a sickness, it`s because it`s so available etc etc etc. Imagine being held accountable for decisions made by adults? Imagine making a bad decision and not have a finger to point at a scape goat reason you made the bad decision or have the gang set up a law for the tax payers to foot the bill for an adults bad decision. To get or not to get the jab is just that, a decision. Being accountable to ones self is all that matters. But as it is with one side of the isle that wants the pleasure of and/or get a fix for their socialist addictions... get the jab because our front man said so or... we will send the jab to your door step.

  13. "According to an estimate by the Kaiser Family Foundation, there are over 26 million excess doses in state reserves, many of which are set to expire this summer or early fall. “We’re drowning in this stuff,” Robert Ator, an Arkansas Air National Guard member leading the state’s vaccine distribution effort, told STAT News. “It’s starting to get a bit silly and we want to make sure we’re being good stewards.” Despite 100,000 shots set to expire at the end of July, the federal government hasn’t been able to reallocate them, citing logistical issues. Other states are facing similar problems: Delaware has 25,768 shots expiring in August, Colorado has 352,533 doses expiring this summer, and North Carolina has 119,756 doses expiring in July and another 854,548 expiring in August." Guess who`s paying for all these shots, jabs whatever? Who`s going to be charged by a hazmat team to flush all the old jabs down a special toilet? Then take a guess who`s paying for all the incompetency of the decision makers? What is the going price of a jab now a days? How bout a special price for a booster jab?

  14. I can’t believe you people are getting wound up because Ross said Webasto screwed up the tops. That’s a fact which can’t be disputed. NOBODY is saying that Ford isn’t responsible. NOBODY is saying it’s ok. To my knowledge Ford hasn’t said anything about Webasto - that’s inside info. This is CLEARLY a defective part. Ford will CLEARLY fix this and make it right. But it isn’t something that can be fixed right away. It will take at least a few months. In the meantime the tops are still usable and soft tops still work so it’s not like the vehicles can’t be driven. It sucks, it never should have happened but Ford will fix it. Now if Ford had said “It’s a Webasto problem go talk to Webasto” and denied responsibility and weren’t working to fix it then all this angst would be justified. But Ford isn’t doing that and to my knowledge they’ve never done that so it’s stupid to even suggest that Ford is denying responsibility.

  15. When I built my 22 f350xlt online it gave me the option of two colors the tan or the gray. When I went in to the dealer to verify everything and sign some paperwork he said the tan was not available for the 22 only the grey in the XLT. Was wondering if anyone else was told the same thing or is the tan a possibility in that trim level.

  20. Crossovers will always get worse fuel economy than a comparable sedan with the same powertrain. Examples. Toyota Camry LE Hybrid, 52 MPG combined in EPA testing Toyota RAV4 LE Hybrid, 40 MPG Toyota Highlander LE Hybrid, 36 MPG However, your point about savings in fuel expenditures becoming smaller above 25 MPG is a good one. MPG is not a linear measurement.

  21. FYI Posts on older threads like this are just SPAM post to manipulate crawler bots to go to specific sites to and create inbound links; this makes the data on them more seem worthwhile and current. More links = data verification; so when trading bots look for news worthy information being more recent with the time and date stamp of posting the data it is more relevant. The later data is saying ----- is better because it more current, when in fact the Mustang Mach - e is a better all around vehicle than a Tesla Y. It is all a game, these bots manipulates everything from Google listings to the Stock Market which in turn manipulate people into believing certain information.

  25. Are you inquiring from Canada? If so, the US websites wont work for tracking your order. Believe me I've tried..Ford US tracking doesn't work good for Canadian orders. I will add a couple working links that I found to track canuck orders and will give you window stickers when they are available. It will keep you from bothering Ice with window sticker requests when you get bumped week after week unknowing like I did... https://seg.fyi/mache-vin/#/details Is a link for tracking the Mach E orders. I have been using this for tracking my Mach 1 Mustang order, and it produced my window sticker when it was available. https://www.f150gen14.com/forum/pages/tracker/ Is a site for tracking F series pickups from their forum. I used it as well for info on my Mach 1 Mustang. It will present pictures of your order also. Be sure to enter the order number with caps on it. (D114 not d114) My Ford dealer learned allot from me on tracking. Rail tracking I haven't bothered with because its finally on its way, so i am being patient. (Ive been waiting 8 months now) Again. this is what I've been using for tracking Canadian orders, which your reply from Ford appears to be. Its probably not as much info as Ford.com would give but its better than what my dealer could do for me.. I hope this helps. Have a good day, eh..

  32. Heard they may have found one problem with tops seperating. The CNC, that trims the panel after molding, was cutting to close to the upper and lower seam. Biggest problem still to be resolved is Webasto can't get enough workers to run plant at levels needed. Ford has sent extra people from Rawsonville and other plants to work there. They have even asked others to volunteer to work there on layoff weeks.

  33. Toyota sells a fair number of Camrys to rental car companies, and hasn't been reluctant to use generous incentives to spur sales. Honda doesn't rely as much on incentives to move the metal, and has avoided large-scale sales to fleet customers. Sales of the Accord therefore give a better picture of the state of that market segment.

  34. I'll just wait two months and keep my money. Here again, Ford robbed the XLT for parts to build high end trucks. Now I know there are a few, but not many people want to spend $90,000 on an off road truck to drive to deer camp through heavy brush, sitting on leather seats with dual climate control. First come first serve would have worked better, IMHO.
    1 point
  35. Yes. Robbing Peter's XLT to build Paul's high trim truck. We "lesser customers" who have ordered "lesser trucks" are being treated in a lesser manner by Ford managers. Instead of first come first serve... And what really rubs the salt in, many people buying high trim trucks where UTT/PTBA is standard don't even want the option.

  38. I'm a little troubled that the severity of the roof issues legitimately might not have made it up the chain in Dearborn until now... Jalopnik put out a piece today about the MIC roof issues linking to the B6G thread that had my pics and info, and Motor1 did the same. The trees are starting to shake. Wonder what will fall out?

  39. Unfortunately, there have been plenty that arrived for customer delivery with poorly-fabricated tops including delaminating edges and obvious areas where the mould wasn't fully filled with material. I've been one of the "lucky" ones whose top arrived without issues, but it's obvious now there there may be some degree of failure baked into the design. Looking at mine three weeks in, there isn't an apparent fix beyond replacing the whole roof unit. Multiply that out time about 65% of orders on a hotly-received product earning tons of free press and 125,000 pre-orders and the situation gets really bad really quick. They should pull the plug on the MIC entirely until it can be reworked, promise existing MIC owners a new roof unit once it becomes available, and provide a soft top kit to those whose MIC roofs become unusable (this will happen once we get into the freeze/thaw cycles around here).

  40. Can someone tell me why Ford is continuing their relationship with Webasto? I get "contracts and legal obligations" but at this point Webasto has proven to be fraudulent and they can't deliver as promised. Total breach of contract in my book but I am no lawyer. It seems beyond ridiculous at this point to try and salvage Webasto. It's like using buckets to prevent the Titanic from sinking. If I were Ford I would put an immediate course of action in place for a different supplier or bring in house ASAP. Obviously, do it under secrecy and utilize Webasto (scrutinized for quality) until they get an alternative in place. This will go down as the most anticipated launch/vehicle in the past 20 years for Ford (maybe 2005 Mustang). Yet this is turned into the biggest debacle all because they didn't vett out a supplier for production capabilities and NOT HAVING A CONTINGENCY PLAN! I have no skin in the game other than being a share holder. Irritating.

  41. COST was a big factor for me. Replacing Fuel Pumps etc is very expensive in a diesel as are injectors etc. The 7.3 I could do every single repair on it with ease and it wouldn't cost a fortune. Next was the cost of diesel and I also carry around ATVs etc. I'd prefer to have spare gas tanks for all the engines instead of some gas and some diesel. The other factor was that I will never tow more than 10k. Even at that, I'm more of a weekend RV'er and its just once a month at that.

  44. I don't typically jump on the first year or two of new tech/models. I feel comfortable going into the third year of them enough to purchase now. From what I have read they are pretty overbuilt/underpowered and simple enough they should last a good long time if taken care of.

  45. Its good but not great, and that's probably what's holding it back more than anything. With the injection of Bronco DNA the NG T6 platform is getting across the lineup (which started with Bronco if we're really being honest here) that should help dramatically.

  48. You’re confusing accelerated development with the launch problems. 2 different things. Rushed development wasn’t the problem. The problem was they couldn’t do preproduction builds because the plant had to be retooled and a lack of space. They didn’t want to keep the plant shut down too long because of Explorer sales and they were overconfident based on the 2015 F150 launch. They also underestimated the actual factory problems in Chicago which seem to still be there at least to some degree. In hindsight they should have taken 3-4 months to retool and start production (at least) and figured out a way to mitigate the other risks.
