Well, it costs money to change something that doesn't really have any significant benefit so Ford probably won't switch to NACS until the CE1 EV comes out.
My opinion is that Farley really messed up EV adoption in the US by leading an unnecessary charge to switch to NACS and then completely failed to follow thru. We would be far better off if everyone just stayed on CCS1, especially since there are far more CCS1 chargers than there are NACS when you factor in Level 2, which is ubiquitous.
The only thing that makes sense to me is if when Ford reveals the CE1 truck they also reveal or talk about the CE1 escape replace. Or they're hoping escape buyers will jump into the truck, but that's a long shot imo.
Standalone dealers are why they can’t kill it without huge expense and bad PR. They want to keep Lincoln and make it great but when you put those projects up against other things like F series, Ford Pro or BEVs it’s just not as important so it’s the one that gets cut first.
But they also went after standalone dealers so your first point is not 100% valid. The amortization can be done with other ford products or a higher production, also in this particular point, they do optimize the cost but you dont create a brand value in the long term. The problem is that other luxury brands not only share platforms but also invest a lot in technology and other areas.
OK
With the tariffs on again off again, Ford imported
a big inventory so it could watch what eventuated,
the higher price of Nautilus makes viable but the
plan to consider other China built Ford is definitely
off the table now.
Not sure about that,
I think those carbon credits are only useful to companies
that are exceeding their carbon limits.
If the whole lot gets axed, then that will be a double whammy
for Tesla in particular.
The news release doesn’t seem to mention anything about migrating over to the NACS charging port. If Ford is going to continue to delay the replacement truck, why have they not made the change to the standard? They said they were going to.
rivian and others have already started to make the change to the charging port on their vehicles.
